Deep Tissue & Therapeutic Massage in Salt Lake City, UT

Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage is a private, clinical massage therapy practice for people who want firm, focused work on the muscles that are actually giving them trouble. If you've been searching for massage in Salt Lake City and keep landing on spa menus, candles, and "relaxation packages," this practice is different. Every session is led by Timi, a Utah Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), and every session starts with a conversation about what hurts, what you do for work and play, and what you want to feel like when you get off the table.

Our clients are mostly active adults across the Salt Lake Valley: golfers who feel their round in their lower back, skiers who spend the winter in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, runners and cyclists, weekend athletes, and professionals whose neck and shoulders carry the weight of long hours at a desk or behind the wheel. If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.

Massage in Salt Lake City, Built Around How You Actually Use Your Body

Most people who book with Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage aren't looking for a nap. They're looking for relief from a stiff back after a weekend on the course, tight hips after a ski day, a shoulder that has been "off" for months, or the knot between the shoulder blades that never quite goes away. Therapeutic massage may help relieve that kind of muscle tension, improve how freely you move, and support your recovery between workouts, rounds, and long workweeks.

Timi's approach is integrated. Instead of running the same routine on every client, she combines techniques from her training in deep tissue, sports, myofascial, and rehabilitative massage, plus Swedish, Shiatsu, and Thai-style stretching, based on what your body needs that day. One week that might mean slow, sustained pressure through the lower back and glutes. The next it might mean careful work around a shoulder you've been guarding, or stretching that helps your hips open up before ski season.

Firm thumb pressure along a client’s upper back during deep tissue massage in Salt Lake City

Deep Tissue Massage

Our signature service, and the reason for our name. Deep tissue massage in Salt Lake City uses slow strokes and sustained, firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's a good fit for chronic tightness, stubborn knots, and people who say "most massages are too light."

Sports Massage

Slow myofascial release hold on a client’s lower back in Salt Lake City

Myofascial Release

Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps and links your muscles. Myofascial release in Salt Lake City uses slow, sustained pressure and stretch to work with that tissue, which may help ease the "stuck," restricted feeling that doesn't respond to stretching on your own.

Golf & Ski Massage

Golf and skiing both ask a lot of the hips, lower back, shoulders, and legs. Golf and ski massage is a sport-specific session for golfers and skiers who want to stay loose, recover faster between outings, and keep playing the sports they love.

Why Clients Choose Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage

A Utah-licensed therapist

Utah requires massage therapists to be licensed by the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL). Timi is a Utah Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), and she trained at the Myotherapy College of Utah.

Firm pressure that's actually therapeutic

"Deep" doesn't mean painful. Good deep tissue work is slow and deliberate. Timi works into tissue gradually, checks in about pressure, and stays within your comfort range. Many clients describe her work as the firmest massage they've had that still left them feeling good the next day. That's the goal.

Built for active adults

Our clients golf, ski, run, ride, climb, hike, and play. They also sit in meetings, fly for work, and drive the Wasatch Front every day. Sessions are shaped around your activity, your schedule, and the areas that limit you.

A clinical, professional environment

This is a therapeutic practice. Every session uses professional draping, and every new client completes a health intake before the first appointment. Our boundaries are clear and enforced, so the focus stays where it belongs: your muscles, your mobility, and your recovery.

Simple online booking requests

New clients send a booking request online with their preferred times and a short intake. Timi confirms personally by text or phone.

What to Expect at Your First Session

1. Send a booking request and complete your intake

Choose your service and session length on our booking page. You'll be asked for a short health history (current injuries, surgeries, medications, and anything your doctor has told you to avoid) and your preferred times. Timi will text or call you to confirm. We don't take new-client bookings by text or social media.

2. Arrive and check in

You'll receive the studio address and arrival instructions after your booking is confirmed. We practice by appointment only, so there are no walk-ins, which keeps the space quiet and private. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first visit.

3. A short conversation first

Before any hands-on work, Timi reviews your intake with you. Where is the tension? What makes it better or worse? What do you have coming up: a tournament, a ski trip, a race, a long week of travel? That conversation shapes the session.

4. Your massage

You'll undress to your comfort level in private and lie under a sheet and blanket. Only the area being worked on is uncovered, and professional draping is maintained throughout. Pressure is adjusted to you; tell Timi at any time if you want more or less. The table is heated for comfort.

5. After your session

Expect to feel looser. After deep work it's normal to feel mildly sore for a day or two, similar to after a good workout. Drink water, move gently, and let Timi know how you felt at your next visit. Many active clients book every two to four weeks during their season.

Deep Tissue Massage for the Salt Lake Lifestyle

Living in Salt Lake City means the mountains are part of your weekly routine. In winter, that means early starts up Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons and long days on your legs. In summer, it means tee times at courses like Bonneville and Forest Dale, trail runs in the foothills, rides up Emigration Canyon, and hikes in Millcreek Canyon. Year-round, it means commutes on I-15 and I-215 and long days at the office.

All of that loads the same areas: the lower back, hips, hamstrings, calves, shoulders, and neck. A regular massage routine may help you manage that load, recover between efforts, and move more comfortably through a busy week. Deep tissue massage isn't a cure-all, and it doesn't replace medical care, but for many active people it's one of the most useful tools in their recovery kit.

Who We Work With

Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage is a good fit if you:

  • Play golf and feel it in your lower back, hips, or lead shoulder after a round or a range session
  • Ski or snowboard at Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, or Park City and want your legs and back ready for the next day
  • Run, ride, hike, or climb and want recovery work that keeps you training consistently
  • Sit for a living. Executives, attorneys, physicians, engineers, and anyone whose neck, shoulders, and low back pay for long hours at a desk or in the car
  • Have tried massage before and found it too light, too rushed, or too "spa"
  • Are returning to activity after time off and want to ease back in (with your physician's clearance if you've had surgery or an injury)

If you're recovering from a recent injury or surgery, or you're under a doctor's care for a medical condition, please note it on your intake form. Timi will adapt the session or ask you to check with your provider first. Massage works best as part of a bigger picture that includes movement, sleep, and your medical team's advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a massage cost in Salt Lake City with Salt Lake Deep Tissue Massage?

Session pricing is listed on our booking page: $120 for 60 minutes and $180 for 90 minutes. Every session is customized, and deep tissue, sports, and myofascial work are all priced the same.

Is deep tissue massage painful?

It shouldn't be. Deep tissue massage uses firm, slow pressure, and some areas may feel intense, but you should never have to brace against it. Timi checks in about pressure throughout, and you can ask for more or less at any time. Mild soreness for a day or two afterward is common.

Is Timi a licensed massage therapist?

Yes. Timi is a Utah Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), licensed by the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL).

Can I book by text or phone?

New clients send a booking request online, which includes a short health-intake form, and Timi confirms by text or phone. Existing clients can reach us at (801) 609-6002 for scheduling questions.

Do you offer mobile or in-home massage?

No. All sessions take place in our private, professional studio. The address is provided after your booking is confirmed.

How often should I get a massage?

It depends on your goals. Many active clients book every two to four weeks, and more often around a big event or ski trip. Timi can suggest a rhythm after your first session.

Can massage fix my back pain?

Massage isn't a medical treatment and can't diagnose or cure any condition. Many people find that regular therapeutic massage may help relieve muscle tension and stiffness that contribute to back discomfort. If you have severe, worsening, or unexplained pain, see your physician first.
